Position Summary
The Peer Supporter provides direct, recovery-oriented support to clients receiving services through Robin Recovery. Drawing on lived experience with substance use and recovery, the Peer Supporter helps clients build hope, connection, and practical recovery skills, serving as a bridge between the clinical treatment team and the client's day-to-day recovery journey.| SECTION I — Core Responsibilities |
A. Client Support
- Provide one-on-one peer support to clients based on shared lived experience with addiction and recovery
- Assist clients in identifying personal recovery goals and connecting those goals to available resources and supports
- Model healthy coping skills, recovery language, and problem-solving through direct interaction with clients
- Support clients during moments of crisis or high stress by providing a calm, non-judgmental, recovery-informed presence
- Maintain appropriate boundaries in all peer relationships in accordance with organizational policy and ethical guidelines for peer support
B. Documentation & Communication
- Document all peer support contacts and interactions accurately and timely in the EMR
- Communicate relevant client updates, concerns, or safety information to the clinical team promptly
- Participate in treatment team meetings as requested to provide the client's recovery perspective
C. Recovery Resource Connection
- Connect clients with community recovery resources, including mutual aid meetings, sober housing, and peer recovery groups
- Assist clients with basic recovery-related logistics (e.g., meeting schedules, transportation coordination, referral follow-up) as directed
- Support alumni engagement efforts, including check-ins and encouragement of continued recovery involvement after discharge
D. Professionalism & Compliance
- Maintain and renew any required peer support certification in good standing
- Adhere to all confidentiality requirements (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA) and organizational policies
- Attend all required staff training, supervision, and organizational meetings
- Represent Robin Recovery professionally in all client, family, and community interactions
Qualifications
- Personal lived experience with substance use recovery preferred
- Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter certification
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel between facility locations as assigned
